Fundraising Program

The CEF holds a variety of annual fundraising initiatives to raise awareness of the foundation’s cause and the bursary program.

Fundraising initiatives provide essential funds to ensure the continued sustainability of the CEF Bursary Program.

The annual major fundraising event of the Catholic Education Foundation is the Annual Gala Dinner. The large scale fundraiser is the flagship event in the Catholic Education Foundation annual fundraising events program. The event is attended by CEF sponsors and donors, Sydney Catholic Schools office based staff and school communities including staff, families and suppliers, as well as the broader community. All proceeds are donated to the CEF Bursary Fund, supporting children to receive the quality Catholic education they deserve.

CEF 2nd Annual Gala Dinner

3 November

The Catholic Education Foundation 2nd Annual Gala Dinner was held at Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club, a CEF platinum sponsor.

This event is significant for the Foundation for a number of reasons. Firstly, as it is the annual fundraising event, there is hope to raise significant funding for the Foundation to support the most needy and disadvantaged students, so as to provide them with access to a high quality Catholic education. Secondly, it is an opportunity to show how the generous support of Foundation sponsors and donors is transforming the lives of these students and making a difference. Finally, it provides the opportunity to celebrate the invaluable work of the Foundation and to promote the cause to the greater community, in the hope that others will encourage those in their networks to become involved to support the continued sustainability of the CEF Bursary Program.

Over two hundred and sixty guests attended the annual fundraising event to support the Foundation’s cause. Guests included CEF sponsors, Catholic school communities in the Archdiocese of Sydney as well as corporate supporters who have a relationship with Sydney Catholic Schools. As guests arrived Catholic Schools Performing Arts School (CaSPA) student and Year 9 student at Domremy Catholic College Five Dock, Yasmine Urquhart, showcased her talents as the Cello soloist. The event also featured special guests Paul Martell, Master of Ceremonies and Comedian, Rev Tim Costello, CEO of World Vision Australia and the event’s keynote speaker, as well as pop singer sensation Jacinta Gulisano, The X Factor 2013 semifinalist.

Rev Tim Costello delivered a powerful keynote address. Speaking with passion, humility and drive as he strongly advocated for the education of girls and women around the world to empower their families and communities. Inspiring and thought provoking, Rev Costello spoke of the power of education to improve people’s lives and change the world, especially in developing countries. He reiterated the crucial importance of “organisations like World Vision and the Catholic Education Foundation to impact whole communities.” Hand signed books titled ‘Faith’ and ‘Hope’ written by Rev Costello were available for guests to purchase.

Guests enjoyed the humour of renowned comedian and impressionist Paul Martell as well as the exceptional voice of pop singer Jacinta Gulisano who performed throughout the evening.

Foundation sponsors were acknowledged in a presentation ceremony and photos with the Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, Dr Dan White.

Fundraising initiatives on the evening were a wonderful success. Together a live auction and raffle raised over $10,000 to support the Bursary Program.

The event was such a success due to the contributions of Foundation sponsors, individuals and organisations that so generously supported the event, either via monetary or fundraising donations or attendance on the evening. The CEF would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the following organisations for their generous support.
